ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
The Championship side have announced that they have parted company with Thorup ahead of their final two league games of the season. One of his coaches, ex-England international Wilshere, will now be in the dugout for those matches – one of which will see him line up against old Gunners team-mate Aaron Ramsey, who is interim boss at lowly Cardiff City.

WHAT NORWICH SAID
On Tuesday, the club posted on X: "Norwich City can confirm that head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup has left the club with immediate effect. Assistant head coach Glen Riddersholm has also left his position. We would like to thank Johannes and Glen for their efforts during their time at the club."
They added: "Jack Wilshere will take charge of the first team on an interim basis for our two remaining Sky Bet Championship fixtures. He will be assisted by Tony Roberts and Nick Stanley."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Thorup, 36, was only appointed at Norwich last summer but a run of six defeats in eight Championship games has proved his undoing. Wilshere, who left his Arsenal under-18s post to join Norwich's coaching staff in October, will now take up his first senior head coaching role at the Canaries – who sit 14th in the division.

WHAT NEXT?
Wilshere's first fixture in charge will be away to play-off chasing Middlesbrough on Saturday, followed by a final game of the season clash against Ramsey's Cardiff – who currently are in the Championship relegation zone.
