Chelsea are now interested in signing an £80m+ winger, who could become Liam Rosenior’s first signing, according to recent reports.

Rosenior praises "magnificent" Chelsea effort

Despite still suffering with illness throughout their squad, Chelsea secured their first victory in their first Premier League game under new manager Rosenior. Bouncing back from defeat against Arsenal in midweek, the Blues battled past a tough Brentford side, who will be regretting the chances that they spurned in in the first-half.

Expressing pride in his side, Rosenior told reporters when asked about illness in the squad: “It’s running through the squad. There were a couple of players playing today who were complaining about their chests.

“They put in a magnificent effort. I felt that’s why we weren’t good with the ball. I’m so happy with the attitude of the group to get through this game.”

The Chelsea manager also praised Chelsea’s attitude, saying: “I felt the attitude, the energy levels, value and the basics of football.

“When you play a good team like Brentford, what pleased me the most – which was summed up in the two goals – was the players’ willingness to battle, to fight, to block shots, to make headers and tackles. That attitude got us the two goals that won us the game.”

It’s been all change at Stamford Bridge as of late and no matter what, more arrivals are likely when the summer arrives despite the fact that they spent big to welcome a number of stars last year.

Among those who could arrive is Jeremy Jacquet. The Rennes defender is a rising star in Ligue 1 and has reportedly attracted the interest of those in West London as a result.

The same can be said about Yan Diomande too. According to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea are “interested” in signing Diomande alongside Bayern Munich, Liverpool and others.

The deal is unlikely to come cheap and that should come as little shock given just how many clubs are interested in the 19-year-old. Recent reports have even claimed that Leipzig are set to demand around €100m (£87m) to sell Diomande in the summer transfer window, potentially cashing in on a top talent.

That price tag may seem steep for such a young player, but Diomande is someone who is capable of justifying it. The teenager has so far scored seven goals and created another four in 17 games in all competitions this season – a record which only looks destined to get better.

Praised for a “sensational” season by talent scout Jacek Kulig, the Leipzig star is undoubtedly one to watch this summer.
